Leandro & Leonardo was a successful Brazilian sertanejo duo formed by two brothers in 1983 in Goianápolis, Goiás. They achieved superstar status in Brazilian music, with large legions of fans. They were the most successful performers of sertanejo romântico, a popular Brazilian genre that fuzed pop music with traditional sertanejo elements. They sold over 25 million records. In 1998, after release of the album "Um Sonhador", the duo came to an end when a devastating and rare cancer took the life of Leandro. He died on the 23 June 1998.
